Wiring Diagram for Connecting a DJ Amplifier in Bridge Mode

Hi, in this article, we are going to see the Wiring Diagram for Connecting a DJ Amplifier in Bridge Mode. When both channels of a Dual Channel amplifier are combined to provide more output then it is called bridge mode. Operating DJ amplifiers in bridge mode is useful in some situations, especially when we need more power output for our sound system. Bridge mode combines the power output of two amplifier channels into one. This effectively doubles the power output that allows us to drive larger speakers or achieve higher volume levels. Even if we use large subwoofers that require a lot of power to drive, bridge mode can provide the necessary power to drive them effectively, producing deep bass frequencies with clarity and impact.

In larger venues or outdoor events where we need to cover a wide area with sound, operating amplifiers in bridge mode can ensure that our sound reaches every corner without distortion or loss of quality. Some speakers have high power requirements, especially those used in professional DJ setups or concert sound systems. Bridge mode allows amplifiers to deliver the necessary power to drive these speakers to their full potential.

Connection Description

First of all, we need to connect the output of the Audio Mixer to the input of the amplifier. As we want to operate in Bridge mode, so we need to take any one channel output from the mixer. We can take output from any one channel Left or Right. In the bridge mode, we need to provide input to the amplifier to any one channel. In most of the amplifiers, it is mentioned that it will take input through channel 1 only. So check the instructions given on your amplifier and provide input according to it. Here, in the above wiring diagram, we have provided input to channel 1. Remember that here we have connected the amplifier to the mixer using XLR cables. Your devices may have different types of ports or connectors so use that type of cables as per your devices have.

Now coming to the Speaker and Amplifier Connection. In the bridge mode, the amplifier provides output through any one channel output only. Here, in the above wiring diagram, our amplifier provides output through channel 1 output. So check the instructions given on your amplifier and connect according to it.

Here also, remember that we have used Speakon cables to connect speakers to the amplifier. Connect your devices using cables whatever your devices have. If you are using Banana connectors instead of Speakon Connectors then must check the instructions to know which terminals will give output in the bridge mode. In the above wiring diagram, our amplifier provides output through the positive terminal of channel 1 and the negative terminal of channel 2.

In the above wiring diagram, you can see that both the amplifier and mixer are connected to the power supply through a stabilizer to protect the devices from low voltage, voltage fluctuation, and other voltage-related problems.

Settings

To operate this whole system in Bridge Mode, you must need to configure some settings in your Amplifier and Mixer.

In your amplifier, keep the "Operation Mode Switch" in the Bridge Position.

In your mixer, keep the "Pan Knob" at fully left if you taking the output from the left channel or keep the "Pan Knob" at fully right if you taking the output from the right channel.
